Class Description:
Salsa Classes NYC (LEVEL 1)
This class is perfectly suited for students with no prior salsa dance experience. You will familiarize yourself with the music, learn the basic steps and simple combinations performed solo (shines) and with a partner (turn patterns). No partner is required!

Salsa Classes NYC - (LEVEL 2)
For students who have some prior salsa dance experience or have completed our beginner class. This class will help you master more challenging shines and turn patterns as well as teach you to style and incorporate body movement while dancing.

For dancers with a strong foundation in salsa or graduates of our advanced beginner class. This class will focus on leading and following complex turn patterns, improving styling, musicality, body movement and footwork.

Class Description:
Salsa Classes NYC - Bachata Class
Bachata is a Domincan-nativ dance, characterized by sensual but also playful and fun movement. In this class you will learn the fundamentals of the dance as well as many challenging, more advanced steps. Bringing a partner is preferable but not required.

Class Description:
Salsa Classes NYC - Afro-Cuban Class Description
In this class Manny teaches Afro-Latin movement, characterized by fluid and expressive motions and a dancer's personal interpretation of the beat. He introduces students to the typical motions of Afro-Cuban and other Latin Folklore styles while providing historical and cultural context. The workshop is a great opportunity to build control over body movement, improve musicality and improvisation skills, and learn to apply this knowledge outside of the classroom and to other forms of dance.

Salsa Classes NYC - Teaching Philosophy
Many think of salsa as the traditional dance of the Caribbean. It is not. Salsa as a dance style and in fact as a term was created here, in New York City, a few decades ago amongst Caribbean immigrant communities. It has evolved as a mix of many different dance styles - in its base stands Afro-Caribbean folklore but influences from hip hop, jazz, modern dance are strongly pronounced. Salsa is truly a dance that encourages creativity, it is very musical, fluid, constantly evolving, and infinitely fun!
In teaching salsa, here at salsa classes NYC we encourage each and every one of our students to discover this enormous potential of salsa for creative expression through building strong technique, rich body movement vocabulary and an ability to listen and connect to the music.
